Proceeding from a Taoist perspective, this workshop is an opportunity to learn and deepen counselling skills through exploration of the Body Mind interface. Through the introduction and synthesis of many modalities you will learn how to create a safe environment, support clients to experience and release painful emotions and help clients contact inner resources. Drawing from Process Oriented Psychology, Hakomi, Body Centered Awareness, Gestalt and communication techniques, we will explore the messages from the unconscious, positive and negative belief systems, addictions, resisitance to healing and change as well as techniques to enhance integration and change.
Healing takes place when we reconnect with Shen, that spark of the Tao that resides in all of us. We will journey together toward the whole integrated community of self exploring core beliefs, survival strategies and blocks that hold us back from being fully engaged and alive.
The course objective is to increase practitioners comfort level with feelings and images that may arise during sessions.Participants will learn counseling skills like active listening and body focusing techniques. Conscious and unconscious levels of communication will be explored.Students will learn to be present with clients in a supportive, compassionate manner. Understanding and addressing transference and counter transference issues as well as the ethics involved in the therapeutic relationship will be covered in the program. Students will learn how to: create a safe environment, support clients to experience and release painful emotions and help clients contact inner resources.
This two and a half day workshop is an opportunity to learn and deepen counselling skills for body / mind process.
Prerequisite: Basic JSD or Medical Qigong Student or Equivalent
